The Asian Volleyball Championship is a sport competition for national teams, currently held biannually and organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation, the Asian volleyball federation. The first edition for both men and women was held in 1975. In 2013, the games took place in UAE-Dubai with 24 countries participating.
When the client approached Prego they wanted a full brand execution for the volleyball Championship that had 24 Asian countries participating, having in mind that it was the first time for Dubai to host such a prestigious and worldwide event. They wanted a logo symbol that embalmed the Arab prestige a logo that represented power and strength yet at the same time giving a cheerful and peaceful environment Given the volleyball championship global size and scale, we really wanted a design that was permanent and that really could emphasize the prestige and stature of the game.”
Working closely with the UAE volleyball association Management team we designed the logo for the 2013 17th Asian volleyball championship, the medals for the winners, a website for the tournaments, corporate gifts and access cards at different levels for the audience and the players. The logo for the volleyball championship was inspired by the City's heritage—it was designed to resemble an automobile's hood ornament with “volleyball instruments ” displayed as an odometer. Our identity for the games played in the United Arab Emirates Dubai represented, a yellow and blue element symbolizing not only the volleyball sorroundings but also the meeting of land and sea ”A sports event of this stature needed a consistent, iconic identity—a symbol that fans could immediately recognize, much like the Olympic rings.
